(Not) Officer Vera

The Norwegian Supreme Court ruled recently that a man who kicked Vera, a Belgian Shepard chasing the man as he fled from the scene of an attempted burglary, could be prosecuted for assaulting a civil servant.  The court concluded (in the NYTimes's words) that "a police officer and a dog are to be treated as a single unit."

This is not Vera, just a dog I saw on Spring Street last summer:

Nor is s/he likely a Belgian Shepard.  But you get the point.
