As I noted in an earlier post, many Guatemalans do not like having their photographs taken. I found as always, though, that it never hurts to ask, and that many did not mind when directly approached.
I walked by this smiling man in Antigua, for instance, and asked to take his picture:

Sometimes, though, money had to change hand. I paid this boy in Santiago Atitlan 5 Quetzales ($.80 cents), for instance, to take his picture in front of the funky cathedral:
This boy at the foot of Pacaya Vulcano also did not mind, though the woman behind him was clearly skeptical:

This Mayan woman / girl in Rio Dulce was watching curiously when I took some random photos of Colleen while lounging about the pool at our "hotel" (which we nicknamed "The Bug House"). I then asked to take her photograph, and she happily obliged:
