2 Cents: Never Again

Though both parties are to blame for the sad state of our Republic, this photo (from the NYTimes) taken after today's bailout vote particularly galls me:


Just what the hell are they so gleeful about? The $700 billions that they've just handed to the banks -- your money, my money, and our children & grandchildren's money -- will do nothing except cushion the fall of those most responsible for the present debacle. Nasty times are ahead, regardless of these golden parachutes from Washington: Our decade-long binge necessarily require a purging. That these idiots in DC swallowed whole the bankers' hysterical cries of "Armageddon unless you hand over $700 billion" is a testament to their cowardice and corruption.

I've long thought that Wall Street was smart to purchase both parties in our idiotic 2-party system. But I didn't know just how smart until now.

I expect the worst from Republicans, but despite my better instincts, I always hope for better from Democrats. Silly me.

I'm never voting Dem again. I'd rather 'waste' my vote on Nader (or the Greens or the Working Families Party or the American Socialist Party) than cast my lot with this bunch of kow-towing, money-bought elites.
